What Is Cherimoya Jailbreak?

Cherimoya is an iOS 15 jailbreak project developed by SeanIsTethered for selected older iPhone and iPad devices.

The jailbreak targets devices using A9, A10 and A11 processors, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

Cherimoya uses a rootless jailbreak environment. This allows supported jailbreak tweaks to run without directly changing the main iOS system partition.

Unlike traditional computer-based jailbreak methods, Cherimoya is designed to start the jailbreak directly from the device.

Cherimoya uses TrollStore and a helper application called CheriHelper for its documented installation process.

After a successful jailbreak, users can explore compatible packages through Sileo where the required environment is available.

Cherimoya is still an experimental project. Its public beta originally supported iOS 15.0–15.1.1, and not every feature has been independently verified.

Cherimoya does not provide confirmed jailbreak support for iOS 16, iOS 17, iOS 18, iOS 26 or iOS 27.

On-Device Jailbreak

Cherimoya is designed to run its jailbreak process directly on compatible iPhones and iPads. After installing the required helper app, users can start the jailbreak without connecting to a computer each time.

Rootless Jailbreak Environment

Cherimoya uses a rootless jailbreak method for supported iOS 15 devices. It aims to provide compatible tweak functionality without modifying the main iOS system partition.

Explore Sileo Packages

Cherimoya's jailbreak environment was designed to work with Sileo. After successful setup, users can explore compatible jailbreak tweaks, repositories and customization packages.

How to Download and Install Cherimoya Jailbreak IPA

Cherimoya uses TrollStore and CheriHelper to install its jailbreak application on supported iPhone and iPad devices.

Before starting, make sure your device runs iOS 15.0–15.1.1 and is compatible with the jailbreak.

Installation steps:

  1. Open Settings → General → About and check your iPhone model and iOS version.
  2. Install TrollStore using a compatible installation method.
  3. Download CheriHelper from a trusted, verified source.
  4. Open TrollStore and install CheriHelper.
  5. Launch CheriHelper from your Home Screen.
  6. Follow CheriHelper's instructions to install Cherimoya.
  7. Open the installed Cherimoya jailbreak application.
  8. Review the available jailbreak options.
  9. Back up your important data before proceeding.
  10. Follow the application's instructions to begin the jailbreak.
  11. If the process succeeds, complete the available package manager setup.
  12. Open Sileo, if installed, and check that its sources load correctly.

Important: Cherimoya is experimental software. The original public beta has limited compatibility, and successful installation is not guaranteed on every device.

Do not install an unverified CheriHelper or Cherimoya IPA file from an unknown website. Avoid combining multiple active jailbreak environments on the same device.

Cherimoya Jailbreak Troubleshooting and Common Problems

If Cherimoya is not installing or the jailbreak fails, check the following common problems.

Cherimoya IPA Is Not Installing

Make sure TrollStore is working correctly. Check that CheriHelper was downloaded from a trusted source and that your device runs a compatible iOS version.

CheriHelper Is Not Opening

Close the app and reopen it. Check whether TrollStore installed the helper successfully. If necessary, reinstall a verified build.

Cherimoya Jailbreak Process Fails

Confirm that your device uses a supported A9–A11 processor and runs iOS 15.0–15.1.1. Experimental jailbreak builds may fail even on eligible devices.

Sileo Is Not Showing

The jailbreak or package manager installation may not have finished. Check the application's available setup options and error messages.

Sileo Is Not Loading Packages

Check your internet connection and reopen Sileo. Wait for its repositories to refresh before installing tweaks.

Cherimoya Not Working After Restart

Cherimoya is designed as a semi-untethered jailbreak. After restarting, you may need to open the jailbreak app and restore the jailbroken environment.

Tweaks Are Not Working

Check whether each tweak supports iOS 15 and a rootless jailbreak environment. Older rootful tweaks may not work correctly.

iPhone Freezes After Installing Tweaks

An incompatible tweak could be causing the problem. Use available recovery options and remove the last installed package if possible.

Cherimoya Not Working on iOS 15.7

The public beta only confirmed iOS 15.0–15.1.1. Do not assume later iOS 15 releases are supported.

Safety Tips

Back up important files before jailbreaking. Use trusted downloads, check app permissions and avoid installing multiple untested tweaks at once.
